  1. This diet is great for men, when my girlfriend and I did the diet we learned that men will lose weight faster than women.

    This is due to women having HCG in their system, while men do not.

    So adding the extra HCG in to our systems at the same time will have more of an affect on men than women.

    So this diet is not only say for me but really works better for us!

    • You can probably smoke since cigarettes have no calories but why would you want to smoke though, it’s so unhealthy. I guess if you are a smoker already and have been then it shouldn’t be a problem in my opinion.

  3. Hey, great article, tons of information on the 500 calorie diet. It pretty much answered all of my questions. I’m just kinda wondering why you can’t go on this diet if you’re depressed…? Like for me, when I’m depressed that’s when I most likely lose my appetite and it seems a lot easier to consume less calories. Does it make you suicidal or something? Just curious as I actually am clinically depressed. But on meds.

    • There are a few reasons, first of all when you are depressed your body is not acting the same and eating so little will just aid in being more depressed.

      Second, being truly depressed is a big thing, and you are better off working on that, than working on losing some weight.

  4. So this diet has been around since 1938? I currently eat about 1000 calories per day and haven’t noticed I lost much weight. Maybe I’ll try cutting that in half and see what happens. I’m so glad you posted some examples here of what to eat and how to drain the fat out of your food a little. Very helpful!

    • Just eating 1000 calories a day be the reason you are not losing a lot of weight!

      If you eat to little with out the help of the HCG diet drops in your system, your body will think it needs to store fat. HCG lets your body know that its ok to burn the extra fat you have.

      :) Even only eating 1000 calories a day, I would say you are better off using the HCG drops.

  5. Hey HCG Diet Team! Do you think that this diet would mess up your metabolism so that when you stop the diet you gain all your weight back? I’m just wondering if you know about any long term effects? I guess if celebs have been trying it, it should be pretty successful yes?

    • No it will not mess up your metabolism, in fact along with helping you lose weight, it helps reset your metabolism and even better retrain you to not think you need as much food.

      So at the end, you will keep the weight off and you will have an easier time eating less. :)

      • I love this diet!!!!!! I have done it twice and have lost 97pounds!!!! Going back on it one more time in January. Hubby did it one time and lost 60 pounds and has kept it off for a year!!!!

  7. I have noticed that at the end of the work day i am really hungry. It is only the second day. My energy seems ok, but i am hungry. Is this normal, i am a male, can i consume more protein, up from 3.5 grams?

    • It is 100% normal to feel hungry, more so in the first week. After that you will start to feel normal. To help with the hunger, try drinking water. I know we hear that a lot, but it really does help out.

      I would also suggest trying some Vitamin B, this will help you not feel hungry as well. You can get some HERE or at any local health store.
