The Rules for Successful Weight Loss through the HCG Diet

There is a “new” diet being discussed these days, but it is not really new at all. The HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) Diet was actually developed in the first part of the last century but has increased in popularity more recently through the Dr. Oz television program. By combining the HCG Hormone therapy with a low caloric diet, many people are dropping extra pounds within weeks!

The Phases of the HCG Diet Program

There are three phases that the users of the HCG Diet are recommended to complete. The first is possibly the most often overlooked and perhaps the most important.

HCG Phase 1

You begin by taking the HCG in combination with a daily diet that is HIGH in fat and calories for approximately 2 to 3 days. This is critical to the overall success of the diet plan. As you ingest these extra calories, the body will want to store them as fat. However, the HCG will prohibit this from happening. Instead, the body will begin to loosen and release the fat. It is not uncommon to lose up to 10 lbs in the first few days.

HCG Phase 2

This may be the most challenging for HCG dieters. The daily caloric intake is significantly reduced to 500 to 700 calories per day for up to 60 days while still taking the HCG Hormonal therapy. This does not have to be a difficult process as long as you stick to high protein foods like fish and chicken. Protein is filling and also curbs the appetite naturally. Fans of the HCG Diet often see a decrease in weight of .5 lbs per day.

HCG Phase 3

This is the “rest” phase, and perhaps the favorite of most HCG Dieters. You get to increase your diet again to 1200 to 1500 calories per day for between 23 to 30 days. The dieter also stops taking the HCG, flushing it from the human system. This allows for the weight loss to still occur but also reduces the tendency of the body to become dependent upon HCG. Think of it as an “addiction prevention” phase.

Repeat and Reduce

After Phase 3 is complete, you restart the HCG program. The HCG Diet may require multiple regimens, depending on the amount of weight loss that you want to incur. There are some foods that are recommended to avoid for all three phases. Dairy and High Fat Foods are the most common, but a balance nutritional diet is always recommended for successful weight loss.
